To the Bible Quizzing Family,
Wow, that was an interesting day with so many having to leave early. The award ceremony was kind of sparse. I thought we could give awards to everyone who was left. :-) But it was still a good day, and we’re thankful for all of you who were there. The competition is fun, and the relationships that are being built are great, but the rewards are eternal.
Worship and Devotions: Thanks to Amy Cook for bringing devotions and for helping to lead the worship time with several other Iowa quizzers! We still have openings for February and March, so if you have a desire to help in this way, please let me know.
Olympic Memory Challenge: Congratulations to the many quizzers who participated this past month. It is good to see so many memorizing God’s Word. Keep up the great work!
We’re running into a couple of difficulties with this, that we need to take care of, because they cause too much disruption in the tally room. First, some OMC sheets were turned in late on Saturday and would have been missed, except that Gwen just happened to go by the table one time when she was out of the tally room, and saw some more in the box. So, please, get them turned in before you go to your first quiz. If they’re late, you may not get your certificate until the next month. And second, please remember that they must be signed by your coach or by an adult designated by your coach. We’ve seen some where quizzers have signed them for each other, and we’re not going to be able to count those from now on. Finally, make sure your first and last name and quizzer number are on your sheet. Thanks for paying attention to these details, to make things work smoothly.
Crown College Tournament: Those of you who are going need to have your waivers and money all taken care of at our January quiz. We’ll meet after the quiz to make sure all of the logistics are taken care of, and we’ll have some information regarding rule differences for you.
At the tournament, the Finish, Quote, and Reference questions all come from a specific list of verses. In the A Division, the list is the Club 300 list (see http://files.nwdquizzing.com/Documents/Club 300 List 2009.pdf) and in the B Division, the list is the Club 120 list (see http://files.nwdquizzing.com/Documents/Club120 List 2009.pdf). If you’ve been achieving at least a Silver level on the OMC, you should have a really good start on these lists.
Help Needed: We need volunteers each month to help with setup and tear down. We still have openings for January and March. Please contact me to sign up. Thanks
Next Month: Our next quiz meet is coming up on January 9, at 1:00pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The A/B League will quiz over I Corinthians 15:12 - II Corinthians 2:4, and the Little League will quiz over I Corinthians 12:12 - 13:13 and 15:1-11. Points earned in this meet will be multiplied by 160% when accumulated for the year.
At this point we’re already half-way through the quizzing season and about half-way through the material. So keep up the good work! It is always tough to study over the Christmas holidays, and the January quiz sneaks up on us before we’re aware of it, so do your best to stay on top of it.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions. Have a blessed Christmas season, and I'll see you at the January quiz!
