To the Bible Quizzing Family,
We sure did end the quiz year on a good note. It was a fantastic day.
It was good to see quizzers doing well. The Coaches Meeting was
encouraging and thoughtful, the Champions Quiz at the end was a lot of
fun, the Olympic Memory Challenge awards were over the top, and the
fellowship around the pizza was great. I certainly enjoyed talking
with several of you as we looked back over what a good year this has
been. And everyone is a winner because of time spent in God’s Word.
Worship & Devotions: I’d like to thank Jeremy and Andrew for
leading us last Saturday, as well as to again thank all of you who lead
us throughout the year. I’m encouraged by the depth of character and
the understanding of God’s Word that we see being built into quizzers’
lives.
Graduates: At the end of the day we had a chance to recognize
those who
were graduating and have finished their careers as quizzers. I know
there were some who had left already so we didn’t get to recognize
everyone. But I’d like you all to know that we’ve greatly enjoyed
having you be part of the quizzing program and wish you God’s best as
you go forward to the next stage of your life. I hope you leave with
good memories, and with your heads and hearts packed full of God’s
Word! As you have opportunity, we’d love to have you drop in during
quiz meets next year; maybe you can even find a place to help us.
Finances: This is never my favorite subject to bring up. I
mentioned
at the quiz meet that we’ve not had a lot of donations this year, that
we’ve been eating away at the cushion we’d built up for the Anniversary
Celebration, and that we’d need about $1200 in donations yet this year
to get back to where the year started. Some of you donated money
towards that already, and we greatly appreciate it. We’ve still got
about $700 of that to go. If you’d like to help out, you can mail
checks to me or to the YFC office. Thanks very much.
Thanks! I’d like to thank the many people who have helped this
year to
make this program work. When you think of the many people who worked
tirelessly through the year – coaches, moms & dads, quizmasters and
scorekeepers, and the steering committee – it adds up to a lot of
help. We thank God for all of you!
WBQA Finals: If there are quizzers who would like to finish the
book of
Luke, you have the opportunity to participate in the WBQA Finals at
Cedarville University, June 25-27. Here is a link to the website, in
case you’d like more information: http://quiz.cc/wbqa_finals.htm. I
hope there are some of you who would like to go.
Help Wanted: There were some months this year where we barely
had
enough quizmasters who could help out, and for most of the months we
were in need of several more scorekeepers than we had. If you would be
interested in helping us in either of these areas, please let me know,
because we can find a place for you!
Material for next year: We’ll be quizzing over the books of I
& II
Corinthians next year. If you would like us to purchase materials for
you for next year while we’re at Chicago, please get back to me by the
end of this week. Some of the more popular items include WBQA Question
Books ($12) and Concordances ($7).
Anniversary Celebration: There’ll be more information filled in
over
the next few months, but for now, plan on saving the dates of October 9
& 10. We want to make this a very special time for everyone.
We’ll probably start the year without the traditional September Kickoff
(information will be available online), and we’ll have our award
ceremony as part of the Anniversary Celebration.
Please feel free to make any suggestions for the benefit of the
quizzing program. Have a great summer, and again, thank you for your
support of Bible Quizzing!
