Friends of Quizzing- Can you believe it? One more monthly tournament left in the 2016-2017 season! You've all come a long way. You've learned God's Word. You've grown and had fun doing it. The future is bright for quizzers-- "But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day." -- Proverbs 4:18 I received some feedback and suggestions about several "appeal" incidents at Saturday's quiz. From the parents and coaches I spoke with it appears we really don't have any changes to make since these situations seem to be just growing pains. Parents, Quizzers, Coaches, Officials: just keep up the good work. I'd recommend helping quizzers use appeals to defend answers rather than challenging another team's points. As we head for Chicago in April for some of you and for others perhaps a future season, keep in mind that a slightly stricter quiz policy and decorum may be enforced at a regional tournament. Speaking out of turn, delaying the quiz with chatter and sloppy jumps may get you warnings which become fouls if not curbed. Personally, it all looks like kids being kids to me and in time, a sense of professionalism and maturity will win the day-- just look at the AB league quizzers-- they were once little leaguers too 8) The after-quiz Chicago meeting went well- As it stands we have 5 girls and 2 boys who are a solid "IN" for little league. We have one girl on the fence. Remember if you want to go to Chicago but can't because of cost, don't be shy-- the quiz committee has some scholarship money that you can use to help cover travel or lodging. This count can be turned into two or three teams, but a couple more girls or guys would put a ribbon on our registration. Where are our AB quizzers? I know you want to go so send me an email. The March Tournament will be on the 11th and is a BIG DAY-- plan an extra hour at the end of the quiz so we can pass out all the monthly awards AND the end of season trophies and OMC medallions. PLUS the ever popular and highly anticipated Mr Pizza banquet is not to be missed. Invite a guest to the day (or just the end of the day) and their pizza feast will be free; others plan on $5 per person for just about all you can eat. Drinks are included. God Bless You All and Have a great month-- see you on March 11th! Jim Benson Director Rochester YFC Bible Quizzing P.S. If you borrowed a quiz box from the league, bring it back to the March quiz... we'll need to take some with us to Chicago. http://rochesterbiblequizzing.org/PastResults/2016-2017/standings/05-February.html
