Friends of Quizzing- Was February fantastic or what? Again, it was so great to see all of you in February. I enjoyed our fellowhip lunch time together and once more, the set-up helpers, worship leaders, officials, coaches, supporters, parents, quizzers and bq committee, led by a Spirit of service to God and His Word, came together to make quizzing what it is-- thank you! First, my apologies for the quiz results... we had a problem with our service provider for several hours on Saturday afternoon-- the network was up, but when we attemped to reach out to web sites on the internet, it was hit-and-miss to the point we couldn't enter scores into our online scoring tool. The backup plan was to merely use a spread-sheet (which wasn't so bad), but I forgot all about the "Olympic Points" system and learned first hand why it was put in place a couple generations ago. Instead, I sorted the result merely by a sum of the final scores and this resulted in two placement switches. As you'll see in this month's results, first place in A/B should have gone to "City on a Hill" and second place in LL should have gone to "Built on the Rock". Sorry about that :) ... we'll have corrected ribbons at the March quiz. If this happens again, Bryan Logan (tool author) has an idea to try: Smart Phone! I am totally looking forward to Chicago this year and even more-so now that I hear we have at least one A/B team who wants to go and a LL team as well. There is still time before the registration cut-off to enter more teams, so contact me immediately if you are interested in going. You can find information about the WBQA Chicago Tournament at http://wbqa.org/wbqa_Chicago.htm The drive is reasonable, registration fees are low and the time spent is worth it. Here are the teams who are going so far (correct me if I am wrong): A/B "City on a Hill" - Sarah W, Grace T, John T LL "3-Team Mashup" - Anna C, Ben C, Grace K, Gloria T, Miriam T Don't forget about next month's awesome, amazing, annual, final tournament March Pizza Party following the awards. Thanks again to the Stoner family whose committment to quizzing (and our pizza party) has made this fellowship event a highlight for many, many years! For just $5 a person, nobody will go away hungry! Also next month, lets plan to have a short Coaches and Official meeting after the last quiz to discuss suggestions for improvements to the program for next year.
