To the Bible Quizzing Family,

We sure did end the quiz year on a good note.  It was a fantastic day.  It was good to see quizzers doing well.  The Coaches Meeting was encouraging and thoughtful, the Champions Quiz at the end was a lot of fun, the Olympic Memory Challenge awards were awesome, and the fellowship around the pizza was great.  I certainly enjoyed talking with several of you as we looked back over what a good year this has been.  And everyone is a winner because of time spent in God’s Word.

JumpStart: In addition to all of the good things that I just mentioned, the JumpStart program was a huge success.  I think we had 25 new kids drop in for most of the afternoon to get a taste of quizzing.  Stan Carlson did a terrific job with this, providing the vision for what it ought to be, and then making it all work out great.  I’m excited about the possibilities for next year!  Way to go, Stan!

Worship & Devotions: Thanks for the Morris family for sharing with us about Fannie Crosby.  I’m still stunned to realize that she had memorized the entire Bible by the age of 14 or 15.

Graduates: At the end of the day we had a chance to recognize those who were graduating and have finished their careers as quizzers.  I know there were some who had left already so we didn’t get to recognize everyone.  But I’d like you all to know that we’ve greatly enjoyed having you be part of the quizzing program and wish you God’s best as you go forward to the next stage of your life.  I hope you leave with good memories, and with your heads and hearts packed full of God’s Word!  As you have opportunity, we’d love to have you drop in during quiz meets next year; maybe you can even find a place to help us.

Finances: This is never my favorite subject to bring up.  I mentioned at the quiz meet that we’d been mostly coasting this year on last year’s excess, and that we would need some more donations in order to be able to kick off the new quiz year next fall.  Several of you responded to that, and we’re in pretty good shape at this point to start the next year, though donations are always welcome (you can mail checks either to me or to the YFC office).  A big “Thank You” to all of you who have contributed throughout the year.

Thanks!  I’d like to thank the many people who have helped this year to make this program work.  When you think of the many people who worked tirelessly through the year – coaches, moms & dads, quizmasters and scorekeepers, and the quizzing committee – it adds up to a lot of help.  We thank God for all of you!

WBQA Finals: If any of you quizzers would like another chance to quiz, you have the opportunity to participate in the WBQA Finals at Cedarville University, June 24-26.  Here is a link to the website, in case you’d like more information:  http://www.wbqa.org/wbqa_finals.htm.

Next year: We’ll be quizzing over the Book of John.  The quiz season will start with our Kickoff on Saturday September 11.  We’ll send you more information about that later, but for now, plan to save that date!  We’ve very excited about adding the Novice League to help new quizzers get started.  The turnout at JumpStart was over the top, so we’re hopeful that many of those kids will want to quiz with us next year.

Help Wanted: With the addition of the Novice League next year, we’ll be in need of even more people to serve as quizmasters and scorekeepers.  Please consider whether you could help in either of these roles.

Please feel free to make any suggestions for the benefit of the quizzing program, particularly in regard to the Novice League.  Have a great summer, and again, thank you for your support of Bible Quizzing!
